Terms of Service
Arkive is a personal notes app, created and operated by Armond Schneider (“Arkive”, “we”, “us”). We’re glad you’re here, and we want to be clear about the ground rules. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are the agreement between you and us, together with our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree with them, please don’t use Arkive.
The service
Arkive is a personal notes app for capturing text notes and images, with account sign-in, an onboarding profile, and settings. TestFlight builds are pre-release software and may be less stable than the public version.
Accounts
Synced and account features require Sign in with Apple. You’re responsible for the security of your device and your Apple ID, so keep both protected with a passcode or biometric lock. We may suspend accounts for abuse — see Acceptable use below.
Your content
You own your notes and images. Arkive doesn’t claim any ownership of them.
Notes you keep locally stay on your device. Content that’s part of your account — like your profile name, onboarding answers, and optional profile photo — is stored securely with our hosting provider so Arkive can show it back to you.
By using Arkive, you grant us a limited, technical right to host and sync that content, and only to provide the service. We don’t sell it and we don’t use it for advertising.
Acceptable use
Arkive should stay a thoughtful place, so please don’t:
- upload content that’s illegal or that you don’t have the rights to;
- use Arkive to abuse others;
- upload malware; or
- reverse-engineer Arkive to harm the service.
We may suspend accounts that seriously or repeatedly violate these rules.
Deleting your content and account
You can sign out anytime — your local notes stay on the device, hidden from other accounts.
Delete Account in Settings removes your account, your profile photo, and that account’s local notes and images. If a deletion is interrupted, it retries the next time you open Arkive. Deleting your account is irreversible, so save anything you want to keep first.
Availability and changes to the service
Arkive is provided “as is”, with no uptime guarantee. It’s actively evolving — features like appearance, the app icon, and TestFlight builds may change over time.
No ads, no data selling
We don’t sell your data, and Arkive has no third-party ad trackers in the app today.
Apple
Apple is not a party to these Terms. Arkive’s distribution through the App Store and TestFlight is also subject to Apple’s terms.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we’re not liable for lost notes, or for indirect or consequential damages.
Changes to these Terms
We’ll post updates on this page. Continuing to use Arkive after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, USA.
